In terms of type and terminology the women’s costumes are richer than men’s and the reason for that is in folklore and cultural traditions. The woman’s hair must be plaited and tidied. An old Bulgarian superstition says that the Devil is hidden in the woman’s hair, therefore it must be plaited.
